DPM System Console won't open with an MMC Console error?

It has been some time now since we posted but we're still (mostly) happily using DPM (Data Protection Manager) for our backups. Recently we had a clear out and found our old Backup Exec 10/12 licenses, had a brief moment of "ahh those days" and then promptly stuck them in the recycling, which is probably the best thing you could ever do with Backup Exec paperwork.

Anyhow, this morning one of our servers decided not to let us open the MMC for DPM, you get an error:

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient rights to the file.

No big problem, head to:

C:\users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MMC

Find the "Microsoft System Center 2016 Data Protection Manager" file, bin it, and voila, you're sorted.
